Ginger – Citrus Combo Detox


This isn’t anything unique, however – one of FTH’s favorite recipes are a blend of ginger and several types of citrus as a morning kick starter for a detox day.

So here we are going to share with you one of the recipes, which we personally enjoy.

Why do We Use Citrus?


First and foremost, we need to address our daily diet. Most times we are in a rush and during times like that we fall victim to fast and easily available food. Therefore, in a long run increasing toxin build up and damaging your internal body. Your brain falls victim to this too.

So in order, to start a detox session – it’s best to start with the ‘Masters Of Detox – The Citrus Family’: This is due to one important reason – it’s Vitamin C production.  Why is Vitamin C so important for your brain?

  1. Neurotransmitter Production –
    We have about 100 Billion neurons that are communicating among one another via brain chemicals. However, without correct maintenance, they might degenerate therefore Vitamin C is essential for their production. This impacts one’s ability to focus, concentrate and remember and also controls moods cravings, addictions and sleep.
  2. Improves Mood –
    Vitamin C particularly increases the production of serotonin which is known as the happiness molecule hence becoming one of natures anti-depressant.

This could result in accumulation of toxic meals in your body and Vitamin C is a powerful detoxifier that defeats odds by crossing the blood-brain barrier to remove metals from the brain.
  7. Protection Against Production of Glutamate
    Glutamate is a natural occurrence and production of the brain however that doesn’t mean it’s for the best. Too much of glutamate production increases the risks of epilepsy and depression. When prolonged it becomes excitotoxin which means it excites the brain cells to death . Therefore imagine your brain cells being too happy until the permanently disintegrate. A healthy intake of Vitamin C protects neuroreceptors that act as a brake- controlling the release of glutamate.

However, this would be the minor part of using citrus – it’s added benefits come in various forms. 

So How Do We Do It ?

Perfect For A Pitcher
Last’s for half a day if drunk excessively. 



1 Whole Ginger
1 Teaspoon of Sea salt
2 Whole Orange Juice and Pulp
1 Lime Juice and Pulp
2 – 3 Teaspoon of Honey
Water as necessary
Optional – Aloe vera Jelly ( To make the drink exciting)


  1. Chop up your ginger into fine pieces.
  2. Squeeze the oranges and lime into separate bowls.
  3. In a blender, add the ginger, water, salt, honey, orange and lime juice and blend them lightly. Until the ginger has disintegrated.
  4. Finally, add the aloe vera jelly to make the drink more interesting . It’s a personal touch.
  5. Leave it to chill in the refrigerator and drink it when you feel like it. Dilute it with water if necessary.
